I had a pretty busy year. The highlight had to be my long overdue trip to the USA. After almost 10 years, I finally returned to spend some much needed time with friends and family.
My trip started in Seattle where I got to spend an amazing couple of days getting to know Scott's sister in law for the first time. It legitimatly felt like we had always known each other. Between getting to know Kathy, seeing the Pacific Northwest for the first time, and meeting some friends for a trip to the zoo, I will never forget these few days in Seattle
After Seattle, I took a redeye flight out to Virginia to see my Grandmother, Aunt, and Uncles for the first time in almost 10 years. My week in Virginia was a happy blur of activity. Countless huge meals with family I finally get to see in person. Card games with my brother, Grandmom, and Aunt Cyndi. Making way way too many cookies. Part way through my trip my brother Patrick flew up to meet me and Grandmom. It was like we were kids again. Making even more cookies with grandmom. Going for walks, trying not to get in trouble, and acting like idiots while playing bocce with Grandmom.
After the whirlwind trip to Virginia, I flew down to Florida. Day 1, I dropped my bags off and caught a ride to my brother Taylor's restauraunt. I got to sit at the bar like a VIP and plates of amazing off menu food would show up, along with too many cocktails. While the rest of that night was a blur I am sure it was amazing. Despite it being 10 years since we have seen each other, it was like no time had passed. Taylor took a day off work for me, and we spent the day shopping and making a large meal for the rest of the family. Patrick took even more time off for me and we spent it doing everything from shopping, to pinball arcades, to mario kart. The rest of the trip went too quickly. Dad and Cord got to show off their new puppies. Dad gave me the grand tour of his amazing workshop and made Tegan and I a few things.
Overall the trip was beyond amazing. I got to spend time with so much family, something I do not get to do too often. Looking forward to my next trip.

This year's pin is a Rainbow Lorikeet.
A beautiful and very common bird around Woy Woy. We will often see flocks of a dozen in a random tree, just slowly eating the blossoms and playing around. At dusk, all the smaller flocks come together in a swarm of a few hundred and noisely take over a few trees to roost in. It can be deafening just walking by them.
Lorikeets are known for being a little friendly and playful. Just watching them jump between branches or hang upside down while they eat a blossom is endlessly entertaining.

Charlotte has been doing great this year. She is staying fit happy and healthy. Every year she tends to be more snuggly and affectionate.

Tegan had the opportunity to work some different temporary higher level roles within her organisation throughout this year, before receiving a permanent promotion in October to a technical role within her original team. She’s also taken on some extra study in accounting and taxation law, and can be found most weekends in front of her laptop or flicking through textbooks explaining income tax deductions to the cat.
We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary in September and took the opportunity to take a weekend away in Newcastle (about an hour and a half north). It was lovely to spend a weekend away enjoying a city we’ve been meaning to explore ever since we moved up to the Central Coast, treating ourselves to some amazing food and fancy cocktails.
We’re looking forward to a couple more trips in the coming months, including an overnight stay in Sydney for the Stardew Valley concert, and road trips to Brisbane and Canberra planned.
Otherwise, the Mohlmann household has continued on as normal for another year. We enjoy walks along our local bay, sampling the great cafes and restaurants around us, and hanging out at home playing games together - we’ve especially enjoyed puzzle and mystery games this year.
